Planning a wedding day timeline is like creating the blueprint for a masterpiece. A thoughtfully organised schedule ensures your day flows seamlessly, giving you and your guests plenty of time to soak in every magical moment. To help you get started, here’s our recommended timeline, along with some expert tips to make your day stress-free and unforgettable.

Civil Ceremony Conwy

Ceremony

From 1:30pm - 2pm Start

The ceremony is the heart of your wedding day, and it sets the tone for the celebration ahead. Aim to arrive at the venue 15–20 minutes early if you're not staying over the night prior. If you're having a civil ceremony the registrar will want to see you about 30 - 20 minutes before the ceremony begins. Be sure to leave yourself plenty of time to calm your nerves and allow for any last-minute adjustments. If you're traveling to the ceremony venue don’t forget to coordinate your transportation schedule to avoid delays, especially if you’re traveling with a bridal party.

Tip: Communicate the ceremony time clearly to guests and encourage them to arrive at least 30 minutes beforehand to avoid late arrivals disrupting the moment.

Front Steps Bride and Groom

Drinks Reception

From 2pm - 2:30pm Start

After the vows, it’s time to kick off the celebrations! A drinks reception provides the perfect opportunity for mingling and photos. With 90 minutes allocated, you’ll have enough time to capture formal group shots and those candid moments while your guests enjoy refreshments. It also gives the venue time to turn around the ceremony room if your Wedding breakfast will be in the same space.

Tip: Create a shot list for your photographer to ensure you capture every special combination of family and friends. Delegate someone in your bridal party to help organize groups efficiently.

Coastal View Wedding

Receiving Line

From 3pm - 3:30pm Start

The receiving line is a timeless tradition that allows you to personally greet each guest. It’s a lovely gesture but can be time-consuming. With around 100 guests, it typically takes 20–30 minutes, so budget your time wisely.

Tip:
If you’re short on time, consider skipping the receiving line and greeting guests informally during the drinks reception instead.

Conwy Wedding

Wedding Breakfast

From 3:30pm - 4pm Start

The wedding breakfast is your chance to relax, enjoy delicious food, and bask in the joy of being surrounded by your loved ones. Plan for around 2.5 hours to ensure everyone can enjoy the meal at a leisurely pace.

Fun Fact: The Wedding Breakfast is named so because you're breaking your fast together for the first time as a married couple!

Rooftop Terrace

Speeches

From 5:30pm - 6pm Start

Traditionally, speeches follow the wedding breakfast, but you can choose to have them before the meal, between courses, or even after the evening reception begins. If you are opting for speeches at the end of the meal, starting at 6.00pm gives you enough time to transition smoothly into the evening festivities.

Tip: Encourage speech-givers to rehearse and keep their speeches between 5–7 minutes.

Conwy Suite Wedding Flowers

Evening Reception

From 7pm - 7:30pm Start

The evening reception is where the real party begins! Whether you’ve hired a DJ, band, or both, 7pm or 7:30pm is an ideal time to kick things off. Your first dance and cake cutting can take place soon after, setting the tone for a night of celebration and allowing your reception guests to be included in the ceremonious Wedding activities.

Tip: Consider scheduling evening food to be served around 9/9.30pm to refuel your guests and keep the energy high until midnight.
