Their is of course a hike upĀ Yr WyddfaĀ it’s highest and most popular peak. Eryri with it’s lakes, rivers and mountains steeped in history along withĀ mythology and folkloreĀ everywhere you turn, has so much more to offer.

Whether it’s adventure you seek or history and heritage, a visit to North Wales wouldn’t be complete withoutĀ exploration of EryriĀ and all it has to offer.

2. Castell Conwy

This famous fortress is exceptionally well preserved. It contains the most intact set of medieval royal apartments in Wales. The high curtain wall and eight lofty towers rise almost as impressively as when they were built more than 700 years ago.

This is one of the most magnificent medieval fortresses in Europe, certainly not to be missed on your visit to North Wales!

Conwy takes its place alongside Edward’s other great castles atĀ Beaumaris,Ā HarlechĀ andĀ CaernarfonĀ as a World Heritage Site.

3. Llandudno

Of course, no Top 5 list is complete without a mention of our historic and charming town. Who could possibly argue against strolling Llandudno’s elegant promenade past pastel-coloured properties and impeccably authentic seafront architecture just like the Victorians did?

Llandudno’s appearance is down to the fact that, unlike most other resorts, it has remained unchanged for over a century. There’s a pier (the longest in Wales), Punch and Judy donkey rides on the beach,Ā  and canopied shopping streets just behind the prom.

Put simply, the undisputed ‘Queen’ of the Welsh resort retains its period dignity.

4. Portmeirion

PortmeirionĀ was created by Welsh architectĀ Clough Williams-EllisĀ from 1925 to 1976 to show how a naturally beautiful site could be developed without spoiling it.Ā PortmeirionĀ village and gardens is one of Wales’ premier visitor attractions, welcoming over 200,000 visitors every year.

Portmeirion’s Riviera inspired houses, ornamental garden and campanile are a beautiful pocket of madness like no other.

Whilst you’re in the area why not explore Minffordd Station, just a mile’s walk or drive from Portmeirion. With platforms for both theĀ Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland RailwaysĀ and the mainlineĀ Cambrian CoastĀ railway, it’s a rail enthusiast’s heaven.
