1. Discover Llandudno Museum & Gallery

For a fascinating indoor attraction, head to Llandudno Museum & Gallery. Learn about the town’s history, from ancient artefacts to Victorian seaside heritage, and explore the exhibitions from local and national artists. It’s a great way to stay dry and soak up some culture.

The Museum collections total 9,000 artefacts, these fall into 5 broad areas covering natural history and geology, local decorative and fine art, social history, and military history. Together the collections build a picture of the development of our seaside resort from the prehistoric age to current day affairs. They are considered to have a selection of some of the finest archaeological collections held in an independent museum in Wales. Their exhibits reflect a truly international collection that is rare and distinctive for such a small regional Museum., with something for everyone to enjoy!

2. Great Orme Copper Mine

The weather won’t bother you underground! The Great Orme Copper Mines are one of Llandudno’s most unique attractions, giving visitors the chance to walk through atmospheric prehistoric tunnels. It’s both educational and adventurous, making it an ideal family activity when it rains.

Llandudno’s Great Orme Mines are regarded as the largest prehistoric copper mines in the world. These narrow tunnels date back to the Bronze Age and feature a 145-metre-deep Victorian mine shaft. If you’re not claustrophobic, we highly recommend exploring these passageways.

3. Enjoy a Shopping Spree

If you’re wondering what to do in Llandudno when it rains, shopping is always a good idea. Browse high street favourites, independent boutiques, and the Victoria Shopping Centre, before stopping for a coffee in our sea front Terrace Lounge.

Mostyn Street

Llandudno’s main high street, Mostyn Street, runs through the heart of town and is often split into Upper and Lower Mostyn. It offers a mix of well-known names and local gems – from Mountain Warehouse and Poundland to the Llandudno Rock Shop. You’ll also find plenty of cafés such as Cafe Culture, Emjays, and even a Starbucks.

Victoria Shopping Centre

Also on Mostyn Street, the Victoria Shopping Centre is an indoor hub ideal for rainy days. Stores include Boots, Specsavers, The Fragrance Shop, and Thorntons for chocolate lovers.

Parc Llandudno

For fashion and lifestyle, head to Parc Llandudno. Highlights include JD Sports, River Island, Primark, and the newly relocated M&S. There’s also a Costa Coffee for a well-earned break. Parking is plentiful, with two free hours and low-cost extensions.

Mostyn Champneys

Right next door, Mostyn Champneys is another retail park great for families. Shop at Smyths Toys, TK Maxx, Argos, Home Bargains, and B&M, then refuel at McDonald’s. It has its own large car park, with easy overflow into Parc Llandudno’s.

Madoc Street

Smaller than other shopping areas, Madoc Street still has useful stops such as The Pet Shop and Londis for groceries.

4. Catch a Show at Venue Cymru

Why not swap grey skies for the bright lights of the theatre? Venue Cymru hosts everything from musicals and plays to comedy nights and live music. Check what’s on during your stay – it’s one of the best rainy-day activities in Llandudno.
